Salad Dressing Recipe

Once you make home made salad dressing, you are biased against store-bought forever.  There is such a difference!

Here's my favorite recipe I make just about every week in some way, shape or form.  I have forgotten ingredients, used more of one, less of another, substituted, omitted, you name it and it always turns out delicious.

1 cup olive oil
1 cup red wine vinegar
2 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
2 tsp. onion powder
2 1/2 tsp. dried oregano
2 1/2 tsp. dried basil
2 tsp. pepper
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. Dijon-style mustard

Mix together and shake well.  Store at room temperature tightly covered.

  5. Yum! I have always been intimidated to make my own for some reason. Trying this one tonight!

One question, do you store it out at room temp all the time? How long does it last?

  6. That sounds delicious! Here's my fave : one part dijon or stoneground mustard, one part honey, 5 parts balsamic vinegar, three parts olive oil, salt and pepper to taste. You can jazz it up with crushed/strained berries etc.

  7. Thanks for this! I always make my own salad dressing. Store-bought just isn't the same. The only bottle dressing I buy is Ranch. Otherwise, I prefer the taste of made from scratch. :)

  12. I *just* made your recipe yesterday to take to two mom friends who recently had babies! I have it printed out in my recipe binder. It's my MIL's favorite dressing! For some reason, when I made it yesterday, it was a little more tart than I remember... I may add a pinch of sugar next time. It is SOOOO good!
And I have mine stored in the fridge, I will pull it out a bit before I need it to let it come up to room temp.
