Bumps and Bruises

Patrick is learning to ride without training wheels on the front lawn, which has a little downward pitch to make it easier.  I know by now that there are going to be tears and bumps and bruises but big proud moments of beaming eyes looking up at me and saying "I did it!"

  1. You ARE doing it - and with grace, it seems - and you're such an inspiration to this mother of two! xo

  2. I, for one, am so thankful to Moms like you who are not only doing it, but sharing your wisdom with the rest of us. My Mom died just a couple of months after my first (of 5) kids was born. Moms like you help "fill the gap" for me. Thank you!

  3. Thank you for sharing your heart with all of us! It does help so much. My mom is also a great sounding board when I have troubles. I have had friends who act like kids are an albatross and can't wait for them to start school, dating, graduate, move out...so sad to me. I only have one daughter and I waited late in life to have her with no hope for more. I was old enough and wise enough to know that these days are fleeting! Thanks for sharing so much of your sweet moments with us.

  4. You are amazing! One day at a time I say. Some days I feel like a great mom and others not so much. BTW I am always so happy to see a post from you in my blogger page :)

  5. I am TOTALLY with you on the rollercoaster of emotions thing... We're at the end of a nightmare week in hospital with our ten week old... This parenting thing can be so hard. And yet there's not a day goes by that I don't think it's absolutely worth every tear and every struggle as well as every joy! Thank you for encouraging me today.xx

  6. You wrote something awhile ago about being used to being tired that has really stayed with me, and given me encouragement on my hard days. Not only are you doing it, but you are a light to others. :)

  7. I locked my keys in the car at kindergarten graduation this morning with six kids in the rain. I couldn't fight back the tears. I literally got bruised up climbing in the window of the house to get the spare set. Thanks for the reminder that tomorrow just may be smoother.

    1. You could have stopped at "I am parenting six children"! That's enough! Love your blog.

  9. Sarah your words really spoke to me this morning. We are getting ready to welcome baby number four into our family and for the first time I feel like we are straddling a variety of age ranges and abilities. It's overwhelming, but I'm learning to take it day by day and yes, realizing that there are also going to be many bumps and bruises along the way. And even so I wouldn't change a thing. As always thanks for the encouragement and wise words.

  11. Learning to ride a bike is such a milestone. I can even remember teaching myself and that's a long time ago. The little bit of grass is always handy to fall on whatever stage of life.

  12. I love your blog! Thanks for all you share. You have an adorable family and I love the starndards you live by:) I just read your post of having your kids read this summer and I want to be better about that with mine. I have four girls my oldest is 8 and my youngest just turned 1. I want them to love books too. I love all your pictures. I don't know where you live but it looks like a beautiful part of the country! It looks so green! I live in Utah and am a little jealous of all your green;) Sorry for the random comment, just wanted to come out of hiding and say thanks for a wonderful blog read:)
