School

The first day of his last year of high school- as much of a smile as I'm going to get out of him this early in the morning.

Abbey, excited, on her first day of high school.

The boys.

And of course, when this happened:

This happened:

Last year the same thing:

And the year before:

Geez, that's the last thing I needed to do to myself today-chronological photos of my baby.

  3. That last picture...was just adorable. The farther away I get from my years in high school the younger the high school students look each year. They all looked very charming for the first day of school. Good luck with the school year.

  8. I love the one of the 3 boys...you could have yelled, "Patrick, look at me!" but I'm so glad you didn't because it's just perfect the way he's looking at those big brothers. Our first day is today. I'm happy. Also nervous...middle schooler and 1st grader (also a 4th grader which doesn't make me nervous). Thanks for the nice post as always.

  9. The baby photo of Patrick as the bus left made me laugh. What an impressive pout and a tragic face in such a small person!

  10. Patrick's pictures bring back memories...our youngest cried when her big sister left for school too, but I will never forget the first time (Kindergarten). She kept crying and saying over AND over, "mean school bus, took my sissy away!" She sat on the front steps most of the day "waiting" for her to come back. It was pitiful!! She adjusted once she too had something to do-preschool and Gymboree!

  11. That last photo of Patrick is so adorable. He was such a tiny babe there! I can't believe how much he's grown up...seems like yesterday that I just started reading your blog and he was just a little one.

  12. How sweet! My son was upset when his big sister went off to Kindergarten last week. He's doing okay, just asks every once in awhile, "Where's my Hanna?" Hope Patrick is doing great without his brothers and sister!

  21. What adorable pictures! I've got a senior and a 9th grader this year. Happily, the other two are older - one in college, and one leaving on a 2-year mission for our church (LDS). So, I'm within 4 years of being OUT. OF. SCHOOL. Phew!

    Your kids are so cute.

  22. What a great part of your family culture that you celebrate school. Your kids will all be able to say, we were given great educational opportunities and we worked hard at them.

  27. It doesn't seem like I have been following your blog for that long, but I knew what was coming when I saw the picture of that bus. Poor Patrick! He gets so used to all that sibling attention during the summer and then they all leave him. Hopefully you had a treat waiting for him. :)

  35. What a darling family you have. Love the sad little pictures year after year. This will be the first year that I have just one left at home (age 3). Hopefully we can stay busy enough together during the school year that I won't have to hear "when will the other kids be home" too too often. But we'll see. Hope you guys have a great week!
