Another Good Book

I couldn't put this book down-I love memoirs in the first place but this one reminds me a whole bunch of Glass Castle -it's that good.  (It also reminds me of North of Normal and The Distance Between Us.)

On another note, I hope you all were able to take advantage of strawberry season because we sure did.  We ate about 12 quarts of those babies.  We are now consuming sweet cherries at the same rate.

"All in all, it was a never to be forgotten summer — one of those summers which come seldom into any life, but leave a rich heritage of beautiful memories in their going — one of those summers which, in a fortunate combination of delightful weather, delightful friends and delightful doing, come as near to perfection as anything can come in this world."

  1. Mmmmm...we put up pint after pint of strawberry jam. The house smelled lovely for days! Wishing summer could last forever...

P.S. Seems like Janey's looking more like you every time I see a picture of her.

  2. I also enjoy memoirs and have read all the ones you mentioned. Another one you might want to try is Rabbit: The Autobiography of Ms. Pat. It is definitely hard to read at times, but I really loved it.

  15. I just finished Educated this weekend thanks to your recommendation - read it in two days!! Doesn’t it just make you sick to think there is a “Shawn” waking his planet alongside us? Makes me very sad/angry but such a great book! Strawberry season is in March here in TX and I am already looking to next years!
