Apple Bars

This a nice easy recipe-no mixer!  The bars were gone in seconds at my house.

1 cup sifted flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup chopped apple (any kind)

For topping:
1 TBS white sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350.
Grease 9x9 inch pan.
Sift together dry flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Set aside.
In a large bowl mix together melted butter, brown sugar, and 1/2 cup white sugar with a wooden spoon till smooth.
Stir in egg and vanilla.
Blend in flour mixture until just combined, then add apples.
Spread the mixture evenly in pan.
In a small cup stir together sugar and cinnamon for topping and sprinkle evenly over top.

Bake for 25 minutes in oven.  Cool in pan and cut into squares.

Great with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

  1. These look delicious! Thanks for sharing the recipe. We are always looking for treats without chocolate as our daughter can't have it.

  2. I made your Caramel Corn last night - every piece was GONE! So good and so easy! I also make your Chicken Fettucine, Chile, and Feta dip on a regular basis! Thank you for the great recipes - I'll have to try this one. When I try a recipe of yours and tell the kids I got it from you, they all say "Oh! Mom's imaginary friend"! because I don't actually know you but think of you like a friend!!! lol!

  7. Just made them and they are delicious! Although mine turned out pretty gooey - is that the right consistency? Your bars in the picture look more fully baked. Thanks.

  11. As soon as I saw this recipe I went straight to my kitchen and made them; so delicious! The only thing I added was 1/2 tsp more cinnamon and more apples which required more baking time; but overall so amazing! Thanks for sharing :)

Maybe I should make some more in the morning.
