Ordinary Days

I ordered silhouettes done from a nice Etsy store, and I can't wait to get them.  I'll let you know how they turn out.  I've always wanted to have silhouettes made of the kids for years and years, and finally I am doing it!

Pumpkin cookies...I tried a new recipe and it was good, but a bit too sweet.  Crazy amounts of sugar.  I will search till I find one that is perfect.

At the grocery store, I saw these huge 5x8 index cards and just had to buy them.  For what, I don't know, but they were irresistible to me.

#3 down the toilet.  Patrick kept telling me, "My fish is theeping".  (Sleeping in 3 year old lisp-language.)  Fish #3 is now peacefully theeping in fish heaven.  And we are taking a break with fish pets.

Andrew working on a comic.

More pumpkin.  What is WITH me this year?  By Halloween I will be all-pumpkined out.

I exchanged my dried up pink summer flowers for yellow mums.

  2. i had to tell you that i had book club at my house tonight and your feta dip was an absolute hit! i had to laugh when shawni (71 toes) asked me for the recipe i said "i got it from sarah! you know...clover lane!"

anyway, i have a crazy easy pumpkin cookie recipe. here it goes:

    1 can pumpkin
    1 box spice cake mix
chocolate chips (as much as you want)

mix it all together and drop in spoonfuls onto the cookie sheet. bake at 350 for about 15 min. some ovens take longer, some shorter. just make sure they are done in the middle. Voila!

they are a little bit more like muffin tops than cookies, buy my kids adore them and i love how i can easily have the ingredients on hand and whip up a batch i a baking emergency!

  3. Ooohhh...love the look of silhouettes, can't wait to hear about those.
I'm a sucker for anything paper related...notecards, post-its, notebooks. I blame it on the kid and the teacher in me!:)
    have a happy day sarah

  6. I made these pumpkin snickerdoodles and they were delish! Right from the oven I didn't think they were strong enough but after setting overnight the flavors really came out.

  7. It's a good thing you might be "all pumpkined out" by Halloween because there seems to be a shortage of canned pumpkin. I might resort to making my own, I really dont want to though.

  9. I love fall too and probably will be "pumpkined out" as well! I actually bought pumpkins for the front porch yesterday and the woman checking me out looked at me like I was nuts. (We live in AZ, so pumpkins die pretty quickly here in the heat). But I am painting them with chalkboard paint and writing cute things on them like "Boo" and "Spooky." Maybe paint will help preserve them? I love your front porch too, looks inviting! Have a great day Sarah! :)

  10. This has nothing todo with this post, but have you read "How Do you tuck in a superhero?" I just read it and it is delightful for a mother with a home full of boys! The author has 5 of them and it is a collection of her stories throughout the years. I laughed and cried. ;)

  11. I like those big jars for the crayons! We had goldfish for years, I was so happy to give the last few to my mom so they could live in her pond way back when lol. Thankfully all the carnival ones haven't lasted long!

  12. Would you be willing to share what site? I never even thought to do that--I have two from Disneyland with my other two--no way we are going back any time soon--so maybe I could get one of the baby (well, two year-old...my baby.)
    Thanks!

  15. Such happy yellow mums. Fall is most definitely here when mums show up on porches.

Great "Being Home" post. I share your feelings. I really appreciate your willingness to share those experiences in that last paragraph.

Maybe this is for an e-mail, but I've always wondered if you've always been a writer, or if you've just become one since investing yourself in this blog.

  16. I'm going to send you my favorite pumpkin cookie recipe. And, I promise that you will LOVE them. (I also love to make pumpkin waffles, bread, muffins, panini, you name it.) Back when I actually updated my blog, I posted a few yum recipes. Look under Nov 2008 for them. ;)

  17. Go with one of those "Grow a Frogs!"
    No kidding!
And make sure that you order it at the time of year when you can get an African Water Frog.
We have had ours for two years, and I am madly in love with him.
    :) Jodi
