Coach Patrick

This is Patrick's favorite Christmas present...yes, a $2 coloring book.  (Which just goes to show me....why do I always buy more than necessary at Christmas?  And why is it always the littlest simplest after-thought type thing that gets the most love and attention?)  He doesn't color in it, he just looks at the pictures.  I've actually covered it all up with contact paper because he was very disturbed that it was starting to fall apart.  His favorite picture is the one of the coach, with the basketball on the page next to it.  He was thrilled (some of us were not) when I scrounged up an old whistle.  He puts the whistle on, and sometimes I catch him making referee like gestures with his hands and arms, and yelling to himself, "Shoot it!  Shoot it!"  He gets embarrassed when he catches me looking at him while he's in imagination coaching/referee/basketball world, which is of course, even cuter.  I think he might have found his calling.  Only time will tell.

  1. So cute!! Zack colored and colored and COLORED the life out of a Curious George coloring book and would pour over the pages as if it were the first time. He called it his magazine. LOL Daring picture of your little man. Love your blog!

  4. He is such a little doll Sarah! So is Andrew. I LOVED that picture of Andrew in your February header...which is now promptly replaced by your beautiful March header because you are more on the ball than most of us could even dream of being!

  5. I love catching them in those innocent moments of imaginative play.
Aubrey loves to pick up the big girls books and pretend read them. She even makes the sound effects and points to the words.
    I love it!

  6. I love when you catch them doing something so magnificent and cute. Which, at this age, is often, often, often. I enjoy each and every one of your posts!

  7. I love this. My 3 year old does the same thing, only she's usually a teacher to her stuffed animals... or a princess having tea with them. She gets so absorbed in her world, reading to them and talking to them, that I hate to disturb her, because it's like I've broken into something that was hers alone.

  20. my youngest would spend hours looking at the little Thomas the Train inserts, talking about all the different accessories and adventures, nanimg the trains and telling us which he had, which he wanted. Then, he got into the little Lego direction booklets from his older brother's sets. Now, he loves the little DS and Wii Mario booklets - he takes them to bed and looks through them and the next day he is re-enacting some silly mario antics while I wish we were still in the Thomas the Train obsession days!
