House Love Around Town

I hopped on my bike a week ago, and with my camera in my basket and my baby (oh, I know he's not really a baby) in the back seat, I took some photos of my favorite houses around my little town.

I love houses.  All kinds, all types, from ranches to tudors, tiny or humungo, I love them all.

Here's a little tour:

These second story window boxes are awesome come August, with major overflowing vines and flowers.

I love this front door:

I love this color scheme:

  1. I would never think of a purple front door. But I love it on that house.
You are so lucky to live in such a diverse and beautiful neighborhood.
Can't believe he took that mitt with him on the whole ride.
    Boys and their toys!

  3. Oh my, I love American houses. That little red brick house is my favourite! I could move in there tomorrow - don't know where I'd put the four children, though!

  4. Thank you so much for the pictures. They don't build many houses like that in Texas. Just beautiful. I love all of the detail.

  5. Wow. Beautiful! My favorite? The yellow one between the two blue houses. I LOVE the porches!

  6. These are a LOT like my favorite houses around our town. Gorgeous. I should take my camera on a walk - I always oggle the same few houses. There's one house here that I swear I will own some day, I love it so much (you know, like the guy who walks into a room and says "some day I'm going to marry that woman!")

  7. Lovely neighborhood! My favourite, pale grey with the red front door... but love all the others as well!

  8. What a gorgeous neighbourhood you guys live in! I love all those houses! I'm drooling over them! I really love the unusual window frames on the grey house with the brown (or red?) front door.

  10. Gorgeous ride!! I'd love an older home.....but I love our plot of land, and the touches we've made to our home....

  11. I love all of these homes...each is so unique and beautiful. My favorite is the pic third after your church. I love the arched windows (and it's so not my typical house style). Thanks for sharing these lovely homes!

  13. This is a great post. I loved all the houses. It was fun wondering where you live. I was looking for hints but I couldn't find any. I truly don't want to ever leave my home but sometimes I wonder what I'm missing in the big wide world.

  14. What a beautiful neighborhood! Older homes have so much character compared to the newer cookie cutter homes in subdivisions (like I live in!). I'm a sucker for tudors myself.

  15. What a pretty ride in a gorgeous neighborhood.
This post made me wish I had sidewalks and a bike to ride around my own neighborhood.

  16. These are all just beautiful! I love all kinds of homes, too. Makes me want to take a peek inside each one of them. I imagine what they're all like inside. Thanks for the tour. Your town is lovely.

  17. "I love that house, oh I love that one more, no that one is my favorite!" was what was said by me as I read this blog entry. What an awesome neighborhood.

  21. Wow. Thank you for the tour. I grew up in Western Pennsylvania...it looks so similar. Made me a little homesick. Then I remembered the winters there. Yikes. I guess that's why I moved to sunny California. Although, I do miss the lovely homes and lofty greenery. Ahhh. I can smell summer.

  22. Your church looks practically identical to my hometown church! I absolutely love going home and going to mass with our parents! So many fond memories there. It's where we were married and myself and two of our children were baptized. Our church where we live now is too modern for my tastes.

  27. Beautiful! Absolutely beautiful. And these are all within a bike ride of your house? Wow!

My very favorite of all, though, is your church. Have you ever framed any photos of it? It's really lovely.

Thank you for sharing all this beauty!

  28. Man, I wish i lived there - well....when it wasn't snowing. OK I wish we had houses like that HERE! That would be better. But...we don't have big glorious trees either. i guess i DO wish i lived there. There is a house vacant and for sale that I have been drooling over for months. I'm going to go take pictures of it and post them so I will forever remember that house. Thanks for the tour!

  29. Beautiful! Reminds me of the houses in the town where my husband and I grew up and then raised our daughters. Now we have beautiful mountain and desert views!

  38. so, i generally do a good job being content about where i live...that completely went out the window looking at these beautiful pics! the picture, third from the last, looking down the sidewalk with the iron fence - i gasped when i got to it. that could be the sidewalk in front of the house i grew up in...looks EXACTLY like it - black iron fence, trees, bushes, blue house peaking through. made me a little homesick.

  39. Your town looks so much like East Grand Rapids, MI.

  40. WHOA!

I'm dying! The curb appeal is off the charts!

I need to write on the chalkboard:

Thou shalt not covet, Thou shalt not covet, Thou shalt, not covet . . . .

  41. Very cool! I keep meaning to do the "houses I like on the way to work" kind of post.

  42. It reminds me so much of the suburbs of Cleveland where we used to live. I miss seeing houses that aren't afraid of a little character or a little color. Thanks for reminding me how much fun a walk/bike ride can be when everything has it's own charm.
