The End Is Near

We are rounding out our last week of summer vacation. I'm ready. They are too. School supplies bought, uniforms in order, and I'm doing a little of THIS to start our next season fresh. I am yearning for quieter and SLOWER days where I can actually get something accomplished and it can STAY accomplished, so I thought I'd get a jump on creating a sense of order. Maybe then, when the kids really do get on that big yellow bus, I can read a book, make an apple pie, take a slow walk with Patrick, and feel like I don't have 100's of other things I should be doing.

This last weekend I cleaned out our closet...3 large garbage bags of clothes to Goodwill. It looks and feels so good. The best after-summer therapy there is. I had a helper...of course.

  1. I'm with you Sarah! My kids go back on the 2nd and it just hit me this week that I'm ready! I think they are too....I'm NOT looking forward to making lunches, homework and driving to and from activites all week long however. I AM looking forward to long walks on the beach with just the baby! Next week we do our seasonal cleaning of the closets and the back to school shopping. I love your idea of bringing a notebook into each room...there is nothing like the feeling of getting organized! Best of luck back to school!!

  2. ME TOO! Mostly, I'm just so ready to get us all back into a working routine. AND I need to do the closet clean-out (both the kids' closet but also mine, which is full of non-maternity clothes that don't fit, while all my maternity clothes are in bins next to by bed - very annoying!)

  5. i just bagged up a few loads, too! it feels so good to simplify!!!
i am envious that your kids have uniforms!!! our kids go to a catholic school, but the uniform is mainly "collared shirts". uniforms would be so much easier and so much sharper!!

  6. Sarah- your cleaning post have inspired me! I stocked up on the windex and really want to break my mutiple cleaning supplies habit. It's a hard habit to break. I can do it! I can do it! Windex is all I, windex is all I need ...
