Thinking of my time at home with my babies and toddlers and how I wouldn’t change it for the world. If there is a difficult part of staying home raising babies it’s that it requires us to slow down and to be patient. I’m not talking about little moments, but for years and decades. It requires us to let go of the notion that constantly achieving worldly goals and being rewarded with worldly things when it seems that is all that we are told is important. It requires us to put aside ‘self’ in so many ways. It requires us to see the bigger picture-that there is a season for everything under the sun, and the season for our sweet dependent trusting vulnerable little ones only shows itself once.
We’ve been playing outside in the snow! It’s been so snowy and icy outside. I am so happy that dear Abbey could escape for a little at the generous invitation of a friend down to beautiful Savannah and Charleston and get a change of scenery before radiation begins.
Here are some of my favorite things in February that bring me a little reminder of warmer days.
Indian Coconut Nectar for hair and skin. Smells like the beach and I use it liberally.
Mrs. Meyers Lemon Verbana Soy Candles-Clean and fresh like the windows are opened and the floors are sparkling (even if they aren’t.)
And a few of our favorite toys on sale:
Calico Critters Toy Poodle Family is $10 off! Many other CC items are on sale also. Janey has always loved Calico Critters and I can’t resist them. They are the cutest little toys ever.
Highlights Hidden Pictures Set is 20% off!
Crayola Washable Marker Set is 40 count is only $12.44 (we really need some freshies for the new year),
We’ve been reading so much! I just finished this wonderful, sweet, tragic but uplifting, historical fiction set of books set in England. It was just what I need for January and February-nothing too heavy, but worthy enough and enjoyable. There are three books:
Counting Chimneys, The Girls From See Saw Lane, and When We Danced At The End of the Pier. I love Sandy Taylor – good wholesome books with great storylines and characters that keep you reading.
Janey and I have been reading Wish by Barbara O’Connor at night. It’s very good-Janey is in third grade and I wouldn’t go lower than that in age, as the little girl is dealing with being in a foster care situation and feeling abandoned, although she is being loved and cared for by an aunt and uncle, and meets a wonderful friend. There are so so many good “talk about further” subjects and it’s not done in an “agenda” or too heavy way, so we are both really enjoying it. A great story that I’m truly enjoying reading myself.
Hope you are all having a great February!
