Thinking– We’ve had beautiful weather here-crazy warm days, with all the blossoms and leaves bursting, and then snow today. It’s April, to be expected. On the way to school every day I am always pointing out the beauty of nature and driving my kids crazy. But I do think it’s so important for them to notice-there is nothing like the seasons, and the gift of new life after a long winter.
Playing- We are full on with soccer/softball (that’s a first!) practice and games. In between school and practices and weekend games we’ve been baking and doing art work and going a little stir crazy on rainy (or snowy) days.
This makes a BIG batch-I keep some in the fridge for warm cookies.
Reading– I just finished Kristin Hannah’s The Four Winds and really liked it and read it quickly-I consider her books “light” reading-not content wise just the style, which at times I need when I haven’t read in awhile or find myself distracted. This is all about the Dust Bowl, a single mom with two children trying to survive on her own after traveling to California, only to be met with more hardship and starvation. They all find themselves working towards a cause to enact changes in laws for workers. The Dust Bowl is one of my favorite subjects to read about. Incredible hardship-something I’m sure we can’t even imagine and not very long ago. How quickly we forget!
Happy Reading and Happy Spring!
Oh wow those photos!!! Here, even in the dead of winter everything is sunny and green. The way your whole world changes with the seasons is miraculous, it looks so beautiful!!!
I also love to point out the beauty of nature-especially spring! Rebirth. I hope you are doing well. <3
I have loved all of Kristin Hannah’s books, and Four Winds was no exception.
Also, I have you to thank for my love of historical fiction novels. I have read so many of your recommendations over the years!
I’m so glad! I hope to categorize them better soon!
