Winter Wonderland and The Christmas Vacation That Never Ends

Oh boy-three snow days back to back before school can even start after Christmas vacation.

I am taking it in stride and it hasn’t been as bad as I thought it could be in terms of boys inside (it’s way below zero out) and getting on each other’s nerves.  It’s actually been a little fun?  We haven’t had a storm like this one in a long time.

You can hardly see Sammy when he’s out in the snow-it’s quite funny.

Jeff took the boys sledding after church on Sunday (which wasn’t cancelled much to the disappointment of a few)…they begged him, and I wouldn’t let them go without him.  When they got back I heard something about bumper hitching on the way home but I didn’t ask questions because sometimes I’ve learned what you don’t know can’t hurt you.

Before it the temps dropped I took Janey out and she laughed and laughed in her little sled.  I’ve had this cheap plastic sled for 20 years I think, and have pulled six babies in it.

I remember our baby sled when I was little-I’m sure I pushed my little brothers in it often enough.

Happy Snow Days!

I remember snow days when we lived in Virginia! I loved them! Of course at the time I had no kids so it just meant a day off of teaching school to watch movies or clean or do whatever I wanted. Ahhh… remember those days? No one to take care of but yourself? Long forgotten now! But seeing sweet Janey in that sled reminds me it's all worth it. 🙂 Bundle up Sarah! Then book a ticket to come and see me! It was 75 degrees and sunny here today. And I could use a nice long chat with you. 🙂

I love the pics of Janey and Sammy! I don't live in an area (Texas) where people own sleds unless they brought them when they moved from the north! I have been on a sled once when I was 16 that was in 1976! My boyfriend had family in Vermont and they made sure he had one. He lived in a very hilly area and it was so fun. Stay warm!

It's our third snow day too and boy is it sure cold! Luckily we're having the bedrooms painted tomorrow so along with all 6 kids home all day, there will be no naps for the little ones! Pray for me! 😉

We're on our 3rd snow day here too and things are getting a little ugly. Especially since it's way too cold out for the kids to go out and play. I don't think I've been outside since Sunday myself! I think when the husband gets home from work today, I'll put on my layers and try a 15 minute walk around the neighborhood… I could use the alone time!

I just love the pictures of Janey in the sled, and the one of you as a child! It's so sweet to both have the memory AND the photo. We weren't big picture takers growing up, so most of the things I remember are just in my head. : )

I love snow days, too! Last March I wrote about getting to relive the joy of a big ol' winter storm and the resulting day of snow day freedom…via my kids.

For us, we had two days off from school this week, but because of -50 windchills. That's not nearly as fun as a pile of snow….

Sarah- The snow looks fun to play in and so pretty to look at! I wish it snowed in FL! I was over at Susan Branch's blog and she mentioned a mistake in this year's calendar. You'll have to check it out so you can fix your calendar!

Beautiful pictures!! Enjoying your post few posts and lovely shots of your family. So glad you had a nice Christmas and that you're hanging in there with the chilly weather. I also had to tell you I found out I am pregnant right before Christmas and thought of you. This is my 4th and I am 41. I remember how hard it was on you early in your pregnancy with Janey and I thought of all the precious pictures of her now. 🙂 Happy New Year Sarah!
