Scrabble

It has been way too hot and humid here, and we have spent way too many days inside.  The kids have been hooked on Scrabble lately. You know I’m not a big game fan, but I have found that besides Candy Land, I have added Scrabble to my list of “I can play this game without feeling like I’d rather boil myself in oil.”  I am not very good, but I never play to win.  I am fond of the easy three letter words.  Except look at that awesome DEVOID.  That’s mine.  The  PATED is Andrew’s.  I don’t know what he was going for there, but I didn’t notice till later what he put down was not really a word, and by the time I did notice I certainly wasn’t going to crush his little spelling soul.

Scrabble is my favorite app on my iPhone! Great for passing the time waiting for appointments, etc. Love it! But there's nothing quite like an old-fashioned board game!

Hot and Humid here too! Our youngest went back to school yesterday (1st day of Senior year). I know my friends with little ones have struggled this summer as it's been too hot to be outside for long!

Have you heard of Bananagrams? It's kind of like scrabble only much faster-moving. We've been addicted to it lately – I highly recommend it! So much fun.

We have really enjoyed UPWORDS, a variant of SCRABBLE. You can change the words by putting different tiles on top of previous words, lots of fun!

I would rather be boiled in oil than sit and play games too. Can't stand it!!! Scrabble is mildly fun and I'm with you, I like those 3 letter words.

Oh man, we are SO different. Scrabble is my favorite game and sometimes my husband and I play it just the two of us!

Scrabble is terrific for learning spelling and vocabulary. And good thing you didn't call him out, pated is absolutely a word!

our family LOVES scrabble! you may know from my aunt kitty, but that side of the family are scrabble geniuses! especially my mom's brother. it is such a fun one! although i rarely play because i am no competition for their extravagant words.
and i must agree about the hot/humid weather…it's been almost unbearable!

I would rather play board games than play pretend…I must not be in tune with my inner child because I am terrible at it and really dislike it!

I like some board games; Scrabble is on the "like" list, for sure. I'm a word kind of person, but I'm not great at Scrabble. I don't think I'm adventurous enough. But devoid? Wow, I'm impressed! And I think pated is just a shortened form of dissipated, isn't it? You have a young genius on your hands. 🙂

If you can play Candyland, you are a better mother/human being than I am. I hid the game from my kids, because after about two minutes I wanted to poke my eyes out.

Funny because I also avoid games….mostly because I still have a little one—a three year old—which makes it hard for me to play with my other 3 kids. However, we just discovered Blokus—addicting and a fun, fast game!!!

As a mom of a 7 year-old, even though PATED is a word, I'm fairly certain he was trying to spell PATTED. So cute!
