Hmm wonder if my almost 3 year old is too young. I would love it if he sat and did something for me than a couple minutes at a time though:)

We have some of these same books. I saw several last week in the front "Sale" section at Borders Bookstore.
My son is always wanting to trace Star Wars creatures. Tracing paper is what I need…he gets frustrated when he can't see through the typing paper. Thanks!

Great ideas! My girls love the doodle books. You should check them out too. The drawing is started and you have to finish it! They have them for boys and girls.

I love it when you do posts like this! I have an almost-four-year-old and am constantly trying to think of ideas to bust the boredom 🙂

    Thanks!

I think tracing paper is the ticket. The results end up being something they are so proud of. Have your kids tried making paper dolls with the Sears Catalogue? Or whatever clothing catalogues you may have. Put some cereal box cardboard at the back of the one of the swimsuit models, and then find clothes to fit her, and cut out the picture including tabs. My girls enjoy this a lot.

My kids adore those too. It's the best church "quiet" activity I could think of.

I LOVE usborne books. I'm a rep. Now, I want to get tracing paper for my Second Grade class because they are finished with work. At least I could get them to draw to keep them somewhat occupied.

Ooh, tracing paper. I totally forgot that existed. And since my 4 year old suddenly has all these newfound fine motor skills that are translating to drawing skills….great idea.

Also, I just recently discovered your blog and have decided to make you my muse, okay? Seriously. I want to be like you when I grow up. 🙂

Thank you so much for your recommendations. There is so much stuff (junk) out there that I always wonder, will kids use that? Is that a good investment? But I loved your toy recommendation from way back when and I think I bought many of the items that you recommended :).
