My Binder

Ever since I can remember I've loved buying new notebooks and binders and pencils and "putting things together"-organizing my life.  And ever since I've had a home, I've had what I call a "house binder".  It's not really just about house stuff now, I've added different pages and use it to reference many different things.

Every other year or so I clean it out and start fresh with a new one-keeping some of the same pages and adding new thoughts and ideas and pictures.

Right now my house binder is divided like this:
Resolutions -where I write my resolutions for the year so I can be reminded, come June.  Writing them out and keeping them safe make them more important to me it seems.

House- where I keep photos of decorating ideas, wallpaper, furniture.  I want to be content with my house, but there is always a little room for improvement or a small project.

Garden- the same as above.

Personal- maybe a new workout torn from the page of a magazine, or a new hair style possibility.

Holidays- I keep my ongoing gift list in this section and some Christmas "rules"-see below.

Cleaning-  where I keep the chore lists I post on the fridge for the kids on Saturday and the daily chore chart, and also sometimes, a little schedule for me.

Rules- you can read about my rules here. I add a new sheet every year of things I've learned.

  1. Thank you I love this idea (the binder) I have a similar idea but never follow through....its great being organized; I love your rules too, sometimes it is needed to put them on paper and see it with your own eyes in order to process. :)

  6. I love the idea of keeping a house binder. Even with all these online tools these days I seem to do better with pen and paper. Thanks for sharing how you organize stuff. Looking for more posts about your binder as my goal for this year is to create one for my family.

  8. I so need a binder. Noticed on your shelf your recipe book you showed to us last year. I have kept that idea in my mind and did something similar this year with just the "Yummy Dinners" I made throughout the year, some old favourites and some new ones being cooked for the first time. Just a basic 12 recipes, printed them up in a book and gave them to my children and loved ones for Christmas.
    Thanks for sharing your ideas.

  10. I love the rules you've written down. Did I misunderstand about you having Christmas rules? Thanks for all of your wise ideas . Seeing you living and loving your beautiful yet simple life helps me to give myself permission to do the same. I know my kids and I are happier when we aren't over scheduled, but sometimes I feel like they'll be behind their peers somehow. I agree with Jodie, I'd love to see more of your rules.
