Ordinary Days

Abbey and her best friends/cousins.  (Thank you for the photo Julie!)
Here they are in 2007:

Andrew's neat cursive. Neat cursive makes me happy.

I love this cookbook.  This is my next recipe to try for lunchtime.

Patrick's "homework".

The little neighbor girl brought these over for Janey and I, how sweet is that?

Our costume bin.

Janey's changing table entertainment.  Do you remember these little music boxes?  If you are younger than I am, probably not.  I found two at an estate sale (this "I don't ever want to die" estate sale) and couldn't pass them up.

Andrew helps me so much in the kitchen..he will always volunteer to make just about anything. Milkshakes and grilled turkey and cheese sandwiches are his specialty.

A too-big Hanna Anderson pilot cap.  She looks so funny in it, and I'm sure will fill it out soon enough.

  1. I was just wondering if Andrew wanted to come over and make milkshakes :)

  3. I appreciated the link to your thoughts about the estate sale! I can definitely relate--it reminded me of a blog post of mine where I shared similar thoughts (http://trinketsofthought.com/2008/07/03/life/thursday-july-3-2008), but it was tacky UGLY lipstick that made me sad, not sheets! I appreciated your reminder to enjoy life because it goes all to quickly! I enjoy reading--Thanks for blogging!

  4. Gotta love a willing kitchen helper although I wish mine did his cursive writing as neatly as your son's! I have had my eye on that cookbook. I may need to order it along with some early Xmas gifts. I am adding on to our Magnetic tiles since your suggestion was such a big hit here -the boys play with them all the time.

  5. My mom gave me "back" my old music player exactly like yours when I turned 40! I should have had it sooner for my babies---great idea!

  6. I'm so happy they still teach cursive writing in school. I read an article about how they want to get rid of it and it made me so sad! My baby Kate has the same jammies... I just love babies!!

  8. I also have that cookbook , the pizza sauce has become the only sauce we will eat! I haven't tried many more of them, though. Which recipes have been good that you've tried? Also- they just came out with a new one broken into seasons that looks good! Love your ordinary days posts!

  10. Love neat cursive. it's a dying art! Kids make me crazy ten they say they'll just type stuff rather than try to write it neatly!

  12. I always love your posts...they are so sweet and always put a smile on my face. I then followed your link to the estate sale...oh my the tears came. My grandmother passed away last month and only my dad is left. I felt the same way as we went though all of her stuff. Wow to us some of it was just but to her is was not. I thought as we went though some stuff why she kept it but I know she had her reasons.

  13. I love the picture of the Halloween costume box and the stack of paper plates on the microwave in the kitchen behind Andrew. We have a box just like it sitting in the corner of our living room. And paper plates are such a smart way to go, especially with a new baby in the house.

  14. I still have my music box like that from when I was little. My baby loves to hear it. Yours looks better than mine. They do not make toys like that anymore. Mine has been through 7 children to include me, my sister and all our children. A little beat up, but still going strong.

  15. That little Janey just steals your heart! Isn't she a doll in that cap?

Andrew's cursive is wonderful; kudos to him! And what a lovely photo of Abbey--she is such a photogenic girl, and it's fun to see her on an "ordinary day."

  16. Don't know why the pilot's cap makes it so obvious, but goodness is she Patrick's twin!

  17. Darling Hannah cap - reminiscent of the Olympics water polo teams, yes? ;) xo

  18. I'm 26 and I remember sitting in the basement playing with those music boxes. Mine was blue. I'd love to have toys like that to pass on to my little ones.
