Halloween Around Here

This year, I put up a few quick decorations.

I bought Andrew and Patrick costumes even though I really like to sew/assemble homemade ones.  They both picked something out at the grocery store in 2 minutes and I loved that time savings.  Patrick wanted to be Spiderman which cracks me up because he has never seen a Spiderman movie or cartoon.  But he wears it all day long.

We've been reading our favorite Halloween books, not too scary, just sweet.

And my favorite ever-I'm so glad my mom bought me a copy years and years ago, because you'd have to shell out same major cash to own one now:

  2. You are way better than me this year!

I have a two-year old running about the house taking down the decorations as fast as I put them up....so, they are almost all back in the bin.

    Maybe next year?

  3. Mousekins Golden House is a classic from my childhood! I feel all warm and fuzzy just looking at the cover picture. I'm sad that it's not available to buy for a decent price. Maybe I can talk my mom into passing her copy onto me since she gave our nativity set to my sister! Hehe. :)

Your decorations are perfect. Happy Halloween! :)

  5. Speaking of major cash...Those decorations you have hanging on the windows look like these old decorations that my grandmother used to have. I LOVED them as a kid and took to google to try and buy some. Holy cow! I found them on ebay and the goblin one I really wanted sold for $75!

  6. Love all your fun decorations! The Little Old Lady book is my favorite! I used it to teach sequence of events to my 3rd graders (when I taught school). Good times!

  7. LOVE it! We don't have any Halloween decor yet, though I plan to carve some pumpkins tonight. I am looking forward to accumulating Halloween gear as we have a family and the kids get older.

In other news, that FERN!! What do you do to it? Mine always die!

  9. I LOVE the book collection! Actually love all of it. I have to ask though what is with the spontaneous Spiderman fascination? It seemed to come out of nwhere for myson too. My husband took it as a sign to take some of his comic books out of storage to spice up reading time. I know he can't wait to pass down his Star War action figures.

  11. I thought I'd add a few of our all time favorite books that I know you would love: A Winter's Gift, A Tale of Three Trees, and A Faerie's Gift. Oh, and "Someday". Its the perfect book for the Mama of a girl. I cry every time I read it. It might be even more fitting for you considering the span of Abby and Janey's ages.

  13. My youngest wanted to be Ironman and I don't recall ever seeing any Ironman movies. Fortunately he did not like the fake muscles in the costume so he stuck with Indiana Jones. Love the Halloween books. We have been enjoying Sheep Trick or Treat - love those silly sheep and their rhyming verses. And love your decorations - we went to one of those Halloween shops and my teen daughter commented that the decorations are too gory and scary and she prefers our non scary ones

  15. Just amazing at how great your house looks!

My 1st grader is going to school on Halloween as the Witch from Room on the Broom. They call it storybook character day and they have to bring in a book with the character they are. At first I thought it was too much work to coordinate all that but in 5 minutes we had her costume pulled together from things she had in her room. So I agree with you, love it when it is easy and a time saver.

  16. My husband and now all 3 of my children have went through the same preschool taught by Linda Williams. All of her students are lucky to get signed copies of her wonderful book! It's a must read around this house! I will be making your Halloween photo banner for our home. Thanks for the wonderful idea!!
