That's Like $1 An Hour!

I hired these two boys to be my servants for an hour.  I got to boss them around and give them little jobs left and right.  This idea is heaven for me and worth every penny.  I paid them $5 for the hour of work (really it was about 45 minutes) and a promise of a  trip to the five and dime.

PS. More on our reunion here-love this post written for Charleston Grit by my very talented and very funny cousin.

  4. Yup, I'd agree: it's worth every penny. What good little helpers!

  5. Loved your cousin's article. Favorite line: "...the only way you end up putting yourself on a pedestal is if someone’s trying to sell you."
    Reminds me of my family!

  6. Sarah, you crack me up .... I was pretty sure I was the only one who called it "the five and dime" any more :)

  7. Loved reading more about your family reunion--truly awesome (loved the comment about the Irish-Catholic family at the "dry" baptist camp)!
My little ones are currently at their second annual cousins camp. My husbands grandparents had 5 daughters who produced 15 grandchildren who have so far had 15 great-grandchildren (13 of which are 5 or under) with 2 more on the way. My children are #s 3, 9, 16(due in 5 weeks). I love being part of my husband's big family, and I love reading about yours. It gives me hope (that sometimes wanes when I am writing my first Catholic school tuition payment) that we can do it--maybe a 4th in our future!

  8. love it! During school breaks, my rule is lots of bickering and arguing between siblings will result in a large bucket, two sponges and rags, and the involved kiddos (regardless of fault) assigned to clean walls. If they are too grumpy to be close together (ie a bucket of suds may end up over one siblings head), then I grab an extra bucket. I am usually guaranteed a couple clean walls per school break!!
