Encouragement For The Week

Oh give me patience when wee hands
Tug at me with their small demands.
And give me gentle and smiling eyes.
Keep my lips from hasty replies.

And let not weariness, confusion or noise
Obscure my vision of life's fleeting joys.
So when, in years to come my house is still
No bitter memories its rooms may fill.

  2. Today I needed this more than you know, Sarah. Especially the part with having gentle and smiling eyes and not hasty replies. It is not the wee hands that are difficult for me, I am old enough to love those little hands and be patient with them. For me it is the teen aged hands and pre teen aged hands. I just expect so darn much from them, they are capable of so much, sometimes I forget to just accept them, warts and all!! This quote has been printed out and is by my kitchen sink for a constant reminder. Thank you.

  4. My mom had this poem hanging beside her kitchen sink the whole time I was growing up! I've been thinking about it a lot lately.

  5. That is beautiful...today at the top of my to-do list, I wrote, "BE KIND" It' was a good reminder when little hands pulled on me.

  8. When I read this I was thinking that "tantrums" should be added to that "let not. . . " phrase, but then I realized that "confusion" and "noise" cover tantrums.
