Bright and early Easter morning. The Easter Bunny comes and hides the baskets in our house. I sometimes get sad about my older kids growing up during Easter/Christmas time...not the same excitement anymore...more like them grudgingly coming downstairs after the young ones wake them way too early. I always thank God I have the age spread I do...yes, sometimes it's not easier, but it definitely makes me appreciate the little things that fly by so fast...like all that shiny eye excitement.
Bottom right-hand corner! That's Patrick after 3 hours of candy and an hour and a half of church!
Are you still picking up Easter grass all over your house? I think that might be one thing we'll miss one day? Or....maybe not.
Jeff's mom....let me tell you....that is one amazing woman. Not only did she serve a HUGE meal, with 3 different main dishes, and 10's of sides, but she also puts together an Easter egg hunt every year for all these kids. It is so much fun, these cousins...all of them...get along together so incredibly well. I love seeing the teenagers all sit together and talk...what a support system they will always be for each other. Teasing and all, they really do love each other...although if I said that to them, they'd all roll their eyes, and wait till I left to start talking again.
We celebrated two April birthdays after dinner also...my Matt is 12, and my nephew Jacob is 15. Thank goodness the rain stopped in the afternoon and the kids all went out and frolicked around the yard, had basketball contests, and burned off all that sugar.
And our holiday photo: a real-life, before church, in the rain, 6 year old mad as heck, husband squinting, me fake smiling after dragging 6 year old into frame- photo.

SO sweet! I'm going to hang on to the thought that, "one day I will miss picking up Easter grass!" Beautiful family!
How fun...lovely Easter memories!
It look like you had a wonderful Easter, Sarah! I have to admit, sometime (like in the top picture) I have a hard time telling your two oldest boys apart. All your boys are so handsome and Abbey is beautiful!
Looks like a great day! That is a great photo despite your sad 6 year old! It'll be funny to look back on this when he's all grown up!
I always enjoy reading your posts --- filled with so much great, real-life perspective ... this is this thing we call life. :) Thank you for sharing many of the precious things that we sometimes forget to stop and take note of -- May your family continue to be blessed in this Easter season!
Looks like your family had a wonderful Easter! Reading about your teenagers growing out of the excitement of the holidays makes me want to hang onto every little tender moment that much more!! And even though your teenagers may act like they aren't excited about getting up early for an Easter basket...I would bet anything that deep down they really are. I'm a grown 29 year old woman, & I actually get a tad jealous when I see that some of my grown friends still getting an Easter basket from their parents {moms}! You don't ever grow out of the excitement of someone making you feel special!!
I love it that Patrick is wearing a little backpack! So cute : )
Seriously, it looks like your family stepped right out of a J Crew catalog - gorgeous!!
Looks like an amazing day! I love seeing your family pics! It must be so hard to get everyone engaged and into it...my sister is our "family photographer" and she is always trying to get the best shots. There is always someone not looking...frowning...closing eyes...moving...:) Your family is beautiful!! I love that Patrick is always smiling and wearing his backpack. Adorable! Happy Easter!
Nice Picture of you and your family...i am jealous!
Looks like a lot of fun! The photo of Patrick passed out in the kitchen is so funny! I like your family photo, no one else can tell you're fake smiling! I have PLENTY... ok ALL of my family photos have some story like this behind them :-p
So sweet! I'm impressed with your family shot...there are only three of us and it never turns out, ha. Happy Easter!
Happy Easter Sarah! So glad you had good one. Your mother-in-law sounds incredible to pull all of that off! How fun to live by so much of your family. I miss that big time on holidays. I love your family picture. Abby looks so beautiful and so grown up!
Happy Easter, Sarah:-).
Why is it always so hard to get a picture right before church? It's when we look nicest as a collective whole but a family picture is always so forced on Sunday.
Then again, I'm a pretty big fan of the "imperfect" family photo. Not that the family is imperfect, but that the photo is imperfect.
I love the family photo most of all! Love that you dispell the rumors of the perfect family - we should all have albums full of those family photos with the real story behind what was happening just before the picture was taken!
