I tried the "done by December 1st" for the first time this year. And I'm already breathing easier.

Love your holiday advice Sarah! I need to read this post every year and focus on slowing down and enjoying the season.

Wish we lived closer and could "slow down" together over a cup of hot chocolate. :)

i loved your post and here's my comment from over there:
i love sarah and this post. i love that she brings it back to what life is all about. what it SHOULD be about. and reminds us that it's okay to not get caught up in all the craziness that we have allowed into our lives - distracting us and overwhelming us. i love her list of reminders on how to enjoy and have peace!

I so absolutely needed this post today as I flipped my calendar to Dec and did a bit of a gasp seeing the days already filled with holiday concerts, etc! I definitely need to start the holiday shopping earlier so I can enjoy Dec - I plan to do this next year.

This is the first year I'm experiencing the struggle with full blown materialism from my older kids - ipod touch, ugg, north face - and I don't have ANY of that myself so they must be getting this from peers? I've been getting upset about it, but I think I need to just refocus on the real meaning of Christmas and do my best to model that. They are good things and I know they will be delighted with whatever they find under the tree, even tho it won't be those main things on their wish lists. Thanks for the reality check!

Hey Sarah, So glad to see that banner again. It's my favoritest! So cheerful and bright. It was the banner that you had when I first started reading your blog and it definitely pulled me in. I still think of you every time I order from Amazon! I adore that stack of boxes on your porch ☺ And who can resist that adorable baby in the red stockings?!

This was great, Sarah! I'm so with you on every one of those goals. Give me a Little House on the Prairie Christmas any year! Okay, so maybe I'd like more sugar than just an orange and a peppermint stick, but still . . .
