Making Your Own Photo Cards With Picasa

I know there are so many options out there to create beautiful Christmas cards, but do you know you can create your own with Picasa?   The benefits are that you can use as many photos as you want, and say whatever you’d like.  The possibilities are endless.  The drawback is that you can use as many photos as you want, and say whatever you’d like and the possibilities are endless.
Here are some (very quick) examples.  (I haven’t taken our family picture yet so I don’t have ours even close to being completed.)

If you want to try it, follow the directions for making a collage, here.
Make sure you choose a “normal” size card, or you will have trouble finding a printer to print it, envelopes to buy, and stamps to use.
Here’s where you size your collage.  You have the option to make it any size you want (most regular sizes are in the drop down menu), or just type in the dimensions using the customs dimensions box. Like this:

Most size Christmas photo cards are 4x8 or 4x6 or 5x7 or 5x5.

Make sure the company or store you are printing these at, will allow you to use your own design.  (I know Sam's Club and Costco in my area both allow you to...and they have great prices.)

I think I’ll use Persnickety Prints …their price list is on their website.  Packs of 25 cards with envelopes start at $14.99.  That’s not bad.  You can find deals at other sites, but I will vouch for the quality at Pernsickety Prints because I've used them for scrapbooking and the colors and quality are top notch.

I also have learned that you can do this at Sam's Club and at Costco.  Make sure you call them first to verify, but they will print out your own designs...and if you get this finished early enough they have INCREDIBLE prices before December 1.

  2. Is all of the artwork already on Picasa or do you have to download templates from somewhere else? $0.45 is WAY cheaper than the cards I was looking at and I would LOVE to design my own (Hanukkah and Christmas in one card is hard to find!).

    Thank you for the tips!

  11. Wow, I am officially a dunce. I've been on Picasa for 2 hours now- my first time using it- and I am not finding it easy to work with at all! I figured out how to pick the photos I want to use, but now making my card "pretty" has me stumped. I can't figure out how to import fonts nor scrapbook pages, which has me doubting if I really am college educated!! LOL!!
I guess I'll keep plugging away at it, b/c your Picasa pages are gorgeous and something to aspire to!! Thanks!
